2021 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for ThoughtExchange. Our last release launched our brand new leader and participant experiences and, in our next product update, we are building in some of our leaders’ top requests. The name of the game is customization and control as we launch a suite of features and functionality including:
- Customizing the Exchange leader name
- Adding your logo to Exchanges
- Add planned Exchanges directly to your calendar
- Open-ended Survey Question responses
- Enhanced Survey Question filters in the Discover Dashboard
- A new Themes Slide in Slides
- Ability to delete an Exchange
Custom Exchange leader name
We’ve always given leaders the ability to include their name on the Exchanges they create. Having an Exchange come from a person rather than an organization or team can help to make it more engaging, but something we’ve heard from our leaders is that it isn’t always the right fit for every situation. For that reason, in this update we’ve added the Custom Exchange leader name field in the create/edit menu. This option can be toggled on or off and allows the leader to change the name that will appear on their Exchange from their name, to whatever makes sense for them.
Note: The Custom Exchange leader name is specific to each Exchange. This option may not be available on all accounts.
Your logo on your Exchanges
If you liked that last section, you’re probably the kind of person who gets super excited about customizing things in software. Well buckle up, because we’ve also added the option to include your organization’s logo on the Welcome and Complete screens of all your Exchanges. As long as you’ve provided us with your logo (in accordance with the branding guidelines outlined here) it will appear on all of your Exchanges, adding that personal touch for all your participants.
Note: This option may not be available on all accounts.
Calendar integration with Planner
In our last update we launched a new tool called Planner that allows Room Administrators to plan Exchanges far in advance and assign leaders to run them. It’s super handy for keeping teams aligned and feedback coming in when you need it. To help things run even more smoothly, in release 5.1 we have added a calendar integration option so planned Exchanges appear in the relevant people’s calendars so an important date is never missed.

Open-ended Survey Question responses
Survey Questions are a great tool for learning more about your participants and how perspectives differ across groups, but sometimes it can be tough to capture the full range of options that participants can identify with. In version 5.1 we’ve made that a little bit easier by adding open-ended Survey Question responses. Now leaders are free to include the tried and tested “Other” response option and can sleep easy knowing that no participant will be left with no boxes to click.

All ‘Other’ responses will be grouped together for the purpose of analyzing results, but leaders will be able to create a data download of all the responses provided by their participants.
Enhanced Survey Question filters in the Discover Dashboard
Carrying on with our theme of making Survey Questions even more useful, we’ve expanded leaders’ capability to filter by different responses in the Discover Dashboard. The filters in the Thoughts tab have always been useful in determining what thoughts resonated with different groups, but up until now leaders could only look at one group at a time. No more! New in version 5.1, leaders can filter by any combination of Survey Question responses to develop a comprehensive understanding of how different groups are feeling.
A new Themes Slide in Slides
Also in the Discover Dashboard, we’ve taken all the amazing feedback we’ve been receiving about the Slides tool and begun incorporating it into updates. First in line is a brand new slide where leaders can visualize their top themes, sorted by the number of thoughts in each.
Delete an Exchange
When it comes to deleting Exchanges, we’ve always erred on the side of keeping data available for leaders. Mistakes can happen and the last thing we would ever want is for important feedback to get lost because of an errant mouse click. That said, many of our leaders have requested the ability to delete test or demo Exchanges with a few thoughts and ratings in them. With that in mind leaders will now have the option to archive or delete any Exchange. We’ve tried our best to make extra sure that Exchanges won’t be deleted by mistake, so you will need to type the word DELETE into a dialog box to make it happen. Keep in mind, if there is a chance you will need to reference Exchange data in the future, putting the Exchange in the Archive may be the best option.
