Edit an Adaptive Survey While Live
In this release, we have introduced the flexibility to edit active and closed engagements. This feature allows leaders to make critical adjustments to their data collection instruments in real time without stopping or recreating the engagement.
This update expands editing capabilities across every milestone of the engagement lifecycle, ensuring total control over your survey configuration.
- Leaders can modify almost any structural component of an exchange, including updating the question text itself or altering the formatting of response choices.
- Adjustments can be made at any point in the process, including while the engagement is scheduled, while responses are actively being collected ("Active"), or after it has formally concluded ("Closed").
Safety and Guardrails
Because structural modifications to live data collection can impact reporting, the platform includes explicit safety guardrails to prevent accidental changes:
- "Edit with Caution" Banner: When a leader accesses the configuration of a live or closed engagement, a high-visibility banner is displayed at the top of the screen to indicate that the survey is actively linked to participant data.
Confirmation Safeguards: To ensure data integrity, any attempt to modify or save an element of an active engagement triggers a system pop-up message requiring explicit confirmation before the change is officially committed.

Copy to Engage
In this release, we have introduced the ability to seamlessly duplicate existing surveys into the Advanced Engagement builder. This feature provides a faster alternative to manual recreation for leaders looking to upgrade their standard surveys into more sophisticated engagement flows.
To use this feature, leaders simply click the three-bar menu icon on any existing survey and select the "Copy questions to Engage" option. The system then processes the data via the following components:
-
Migration Success: Once selected, a green success message will indicate that the content has been successfully ported into a new Advanced Engagement.Standard question types, such as multiple-choice and ranking, transfer directly into the new builder without requiring manual adjustments.

-
Intelligent Warnings: For surveys containing branching logic, the system will display a yellow informational banner post-duplication. This alerts leaders that the logic may require manual review to ensure the participant path remained intact during the transfer.
Validation and Insights
- If a complex survey is duplicated, leaders can manually resolve logic gaps by moving questions into specific branches or deleting any empty elements created during the migration.
- While this feature is a powerful time-saver for most surveys, it is not recommended for highly complex logic structures. In those rare cases, manual entry or copy-and-paste methods may still offer the most precision.
- Always review the "architecture" of your new Advanced Engagement immediately after duplication to ensure all variables and paths align with your original survey intent.
Daily Moderation Email for Adaptive Surveys
We have introduced the Daily Moderation Email to complement the Machine Moderation feature within Adaptive Surveys. This automated digest ensures leaders stay informed of flagged content without needing to manually monitor the platform every day.
The system scans for machine-moderated responses every 24 hours. An email summary is triggered only if at least one response has been moderated within that timeframe.
Key Metrics At A Glance:
The email provides leaders with a quick snapshot of the last 24 hours, including:
- The total count of responses that have been moderated.
- The total number of overall responses reported.
Within the email, leaders will find a direct action button that takes them straight to their engagement results for seamless review.
How to Set It Up:
1. Navigate to the Manage page.
2. Click on the Moderate tab.
3. Locate the Daily Moderation Email section and use the recipient box below it to add the email addresses of the leaders who should receive these daily updates.
ID Number as a PII Question Type
In this release, we have expanded our Personally Identifiable Information (PII) capabilities by updating the "Contact Information" option to "Personal Information" within the flowchart dropdown. This expansion introduces a new ID Number field alongside standard name and email inputs, allowing leaders to securely collect official participant identifiers.
To implement this field, leaders will follow a setup process similar to existing PII configurations within the flowchart builder:
- When editing a "Question" card, leaders will select "Personal Information" from the bottom of the dropdown menu.
-
Selecting this option presents three pre-formatted field types to deploy:
- Participant Name
- Email Address
- ID Number (New)
When the ID Number option is selected, a pre-formatted question block appears. Leaders can toggle "Add validation" to specify a character length, ensuring participants enter complete and accurate ID strings before submission.

Validation & Confidentiality:
- To maintain data integrity, the ID Number field is restricted to numeric characters. Alphanumeric or special characters will trigger a validation error.
- To protect participant confidentiality, collected ID numbers are excluded from standard analytical views, including Summaries, Detailed Responses, Compare, and Advisor processing.
Anonymous Contact Box in Adaptive Surveys
In this release, Personally Identifiable Information (PII) question types can now be included within Adaptive Surveys configured with the Anonymous privacy setting. This allows leaders to securely request participant contact information while preserving absolute anonymity across standard feedback.
Deploying contact fields within an anonymous environment alters both the administrative setup and the participant experience to guarantee privacy compliance.
Leader Workflow
-
When a leader activates the "Anonymous" privacy setting on an engagement that contains PII cards, the system triggers an immediate privacy impact alert. This notification outlines data handling rules and reminds the leader of participant protections.
- To safeguard participant choice, PII questions cannot be made mandatory if the engagement is set to anonymous; the platform automatically restricts the "Required" toggle to enforce this rule.
-
PII collected in this mode is completely excluded from standard views (Summaries, Detailed Responses, Compare, and Advisor). Instead, it is housed in a separate, dedicated download file accessible exclusively via the Reports tab.
Participant Experience
- When a participant navigates through an anonymous survey and encounters a PII block, the interface dynamically updates to ensure participant understanding:
- Optional Disclaimer: A clear, on-screen notice clarifies that entering contact details is entirely optional.
Identity Protection Assurance: The system explicitly states that any information entered in the contact box is processed securely and will never be linked to their specific survey responses, ensuring full identity protection.
