No Need For Order
We ultimately came to this decision as a result of feedback not only from others, but from our own exchanges! In our research and conversations, we came to find...
- People feel less vulnerable during the Share step if they can see how others are responding.
- The freedom to move unrestricted throughout the exchange drives participation! People feel more confident in sharing if they feel they have a better grasp of, or additional context to, what’s being asked in the question.
- Being able to see shared thoughts can inspire new ideas which the participant can then go back and share - the fluidity in this helps to create a robust exchange that participants can feel truly a part of.
That being said, most people go through the steps in sequence at first. Once they have some familiarity with exchanges, they’ll learn that they can move freely throughout the conversation - although even then some people prefer to share first and others prefer to take a peek at Discover before sharing!
